Independent Therapist at Integrity Counseling Center
Are you not living the life you hoped for?
Sometimes we get stuck in a place of desperation.
Experiences that bring about feelings of fear, anger, loneliness, and grief can leave their scars on us. We might even lose hope that life will ever get better.
If you are in a stuck place in life, I want you to know that there is a way out.
You were given the capacity to overcome the obstacles life brings. Your heart is resilient.
What you might need is a guide to help you get to a new chapter in your life story.
Allow me to be your guide and step into your life story with you. As your counselor, I will offer you a safe place where you will come to understand your past and present with compassion and acceptance.
Together, we will look at the places of brokenness, look at what brought on the scars and discover deep insights about your life that lead to healing and transformation.
This therapy journey requires courage. But the payoff of this courage is a realization that there can be a depth of meaning and of beauty that can emerge from your scars.
Who I work with?
Counseling for Women and Men Individually
I offer counseling for men and women navigating…
- depression
- anxiety
- trauma
- grief and loss
- self-worth
- perfectionism
- stress management
- relationship issues.
I will help you recognize patterns that are no longer helpful and uncover the beliefs that may be in the way of your well-being.
I value integrating various therapeutic approaches to address your total well-being (emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual).
I have specialized training in trauma and abuse from Seattle School of Theology and Psychology, Allender Center. There, I received an Advanced Certificate in Trauma-Focused Narrative Therapy.
Using a narrative approach, you will come to discover and understand the powerful life stories that shaped and guided your development as a person.
In my work as a therapist, I will also consider your attachment history and how it impacts your current relationships. The messages you received in your early years, influence how you handle conflict, how you communicate, and your ability to understand emotional intimacy.
Proven therapy techniques I use in my counseling sessions, will help you repair attachment issues, build on your ability to regulate your emotions and improve your relationships with yourself and others.
Therapy for Parents of Children of All Ages
I am here to give hope for frustrated parents.
You might be locking yourself in the bathroom to avoid screaming at your kids and completely losing control.
You might be struggling with the guilt that you somehow failed your precious child.
Or you are exhausted from navigating emotional and behavioral struggles your kiddo has.
I know parenting is hard.
My Foster/Adoption Training from Portland State University and my training as a facilitator in “Circle of Security Parenting™ have given me unique ways to guide and support you as a parent.
Having raised five children and being actively involved with my grandchildren have also given me some tangible skills to offer counseling for parents.
What to expect in a counseling session with me as your therapist?
In our counseling work together, you can expect support and guidance for personal growth as we explore and reflect on your life story.
Together, we will journey to understand how the past contributes to your present, both in helpful ways and in ways that you may want to change.
Taking the time to slow down and examine your heart and your life is sacred work. I will listen with kindness and patience, accepting you where you are, and celebrating your courage to face life in new and different ways.
I bring a Christian perspective in my engagement with you to consider the presence of God in your life. I welcome your honesty, doubt, anger and any “wrestling” that you find yourself in the midst of spiritually.
I also see clients that don’t identify with the Christian perspective and honor their position, welcoming wherever they are on their own journey.
Why choose me as your therapist?
If you’re interested in deepening your capacity for living a life of integrity, as my husband often says, “making your outside voice match your inside voice,” then I’m the therapist for you.
It takes honesty to name the beautiful and broken parts of your life and courage to take steps toward wholeness.
I believe in the human capacity to heal and change. If you’re interested in having someone to share the journey with, I am here for you.
A bit about me outside of my work as a therapist…
Before getting my Master’s degree in Social Work from George Fox University, I spent 10 years in a ministry context working with individuals and families.
I currently enjoy teaching and working part-time with social work students at George Fox University.
I have been married for 40 years to my loving husband and together we raised five beautiful children through the messiness of life and are enjoying a life rich with grandchildren, friends and family.
A few of my favorite things include that first cup of espresso in the morning, basking in the warm sunshine, reflecting on the goodness of God, and soaking in a hot tub at the end of a long day.
In my free time, I love to take walks with my dog Max, read, explore new places to dine, and simply to be with and enjoy those I love.
