I will be honored to join you on your journey through life and help you find ways to overcome the struggles you are facing. There is joy, healing, and transformation ahead. I know you can get there!
Who I work with
Children Age 3-12:
Your kiddo has changed since he or she went through some tough stuff. Sadness, worry and anger seem to be coming up way too much. And you are left wondering how you can help your little one manage their big emotions.
As a parent, you want the best for your child, but just feel uncertain in how to get there.
I partner with parents to explore their child’s inner world and struggles. My goal is to help children express who they are and learn healthy ways to deal with the challenges they face in their everyday life.
As a child therapist, I want to help your kid express their emotions with clarity and confidence. I also want to support you with new insights, parenting tools, and improved skills, so you can better help your child navigate life.
When working with my young clients, I integrate art therapy, play therapy, and talk therapy depending on your child’s preference and what works best for them.
Art is a great tool to express emotions that can be difficult to talk about or comprehend. Play is child’s native language and what they use to experience the world. In play therapy, your child and I will use toys, sand, and games as tools to get them to a better spot emotionally and in their relationships with you and others.
Counseling for Families of Children with Autism and Special Needs:
If you have a child on the Autism spectrum, you are on a unique parenting journey. You might feel drained and emotional. It hurts to see your neurodiverse child hold their feelings and emotional pain. Your kid’s outburst and meltdowns might be taking its a toll on you and other family members.
I want to help your child and your family to navigate the challenges autism brings to families.
In our family therapy, we will work on social skills and emotional regulation for your kid.
I will also work closely with you as a parent, offering support in managing your stress, developing strategies in keeping your child safe, and improving family communication. Our sessions can also include the siblings of your autistic child to help them feel heard, seen, and understood.
Working with individuals and families with autism is one of my passions. I also come with years of experience with autism through various camps, school programs, local events, and friends and family in my community. For over two years, I provided one on one ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy to children and teens with autism and related disorders.
Counseling for Couples:
Your connection and communication have broken down to being just roommates. The same fights come up time and time again. You realize that neither of you is happy.
I help couples move from the areas where they are feeling stuck to getting intimacy back in their life.
My approach is rooted in the Gottman Method Therapy for Couples which is based on over 30 years of research. In our couples therapy sessions, I will create an environment where both of you have an equal opportunity to talk about your concerns in a fair and open way.
As we work together, we will strive toward recovering your shared sense of trust, fostering healthier communication, and bolstering your connection.
I am here to help you have the relationship you long for. And not just in my office, but in your daily life too!
Why choose me as your therapist?
I am passionate about people, first and foremost. I am willing to walk through the weeds with you and help you navigate whatever hardship you are going through.
I am patient, compassionate, and always thrive to learn more about how I can help my clients.
My Master’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of the Cumberlands has been vital in giving me the knowledge and skills to get me ready for the world of therapy. I am continually reading and taking trainings that help me become the best therapist I can be!
A bit about me outside of my work as a therapist
I enjoy spending time outside exploring with my husband and my dog. We have made it a goal to try and visit all the National Parks in the US, my favorite so far has been Joshua Tree!
I also enjoy crafting, especially painting and calligraphy.
You can usually find me outside in nature, spending time with friends playing games and eating snacks, or volunteering at my church.
