Independent Therapist at Integrity Counseling Center
Do you find yourself feeling sad or anxious more often than you would like?
Perhaps you are struggling with a loss. Everything feels too hard to bear and you’re not sure what to do next.
I would love to help as you navigate through this difficult time.
Who I work with?
Counseling for Men and Women Individually
If you feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed; depressed, have difficulty finding your own self-worth or are struggling to cope with pain, I can help.
In order to assist you in finding greater wholeness in your life, I believe it is important to take a look at your emotional, mental, spiritual, social, and physical care.
I utilize CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to help you better understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in order to gain insight into the patterns in your life.
I also draw from mindfulness-based ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to help you focus on the present, live within your values, and find self-acceptance.
I use EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). In using this approach, old painful memories, negative beliefs, life events, or triggers, are able to be reprocessed, with emotional distress eliminated, and new insights created for greater healing.
In addition, I offer attachment-based counseling to help you navigate how to have more secure, fulfilling relationships. With a greater understanding of your past interactions, we can see patterns played out in relationships now, and how these affect the way you see yourself and the world around you. If needed, I can help in understanding what healthy boundaries look like in order to show love to those you care about, while still caring well for yourself.
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Counseling
I am trained and certified in MommaCare, helping parents who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss.
The grief of this loss is uniquely painful and can be especially isolating. I am here to provide you with support as you navigate this experience and face the challenge of incorporating the loss into your life.
As a bereaved mother myself, I know the many emotions and thoughts that can come after experiencing the loss, and the process it can take to journey through the pain.
Grief Counseling
There are different kinds of losses, both tangible and intangible, that may need to be grieved. The death of a person, or a relationship, are devastating losses.
I can help as you move through the various emotional, social, physical, and spiritual grief responses into the process of mourning to gradually learn to live without the loved one and find direction.
The loss of something more intangible like confidence, self-esteem, or many others are also painful as well, and may need further direction in order to gain back what is now missing.
Postpartum Counseling
Finding immediate joy and fulfillment in your new role as a parent isn’t always as blissful as portrayed or expected. Finding your new identity as a parent and the challenges a baby brings are complex.
I am here to provide a space for you to wrestle through those thoughts and learn how to incorporate your new role with the physical and emotional changes it brings.
Counseling for Parents of Children
Along with my degree in Early Childhood Education, and many years of experience working directly with children and families, I am able to guide parents through the struggles of raising young children.
Incorporating stages of development, attachment styles, learning styles, knowledge of temperaments and behaviors, I can work with you to find ways to better understand the struggles both for you as the parent and for what the child may need.
Counseling for Premarital Couples
As a certified Prepare Enrich facilitator, I use the assessment with engaged couples to gain a broader picture of strengths and growth areas moving into marriage.
This time in life is very exciting and this tool, along with counseling, can help you be prepared with the foundation for a successful marriage.
What to expect in a counseling session with me as your therapist?
I will listen wholeheartedly to your concerns. I know you already have many strengths and we will draw on what you are already doing in life to be successful.
As we work together, I will provide you with a safe, non-judgmental space where you are able to openly share and process. Each session we will focus on your goals.
I will make sure you feel heard and empowered, give you the information you need, the resources to help you continue to grow, and the coping tools that you can implement into your life. As steps are taken, we will celebrate your achievements and accomplishments.
Why choose me as your therapist?
My desire is to offer genuine care to help people take steps toward healing and transformation. I believe that we can always change and grow.
I continue to seek out additional trainings to ensure I have the knowledge and skills to help others.
I am also always working on myself, my own internal life for greater emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical health.
When I’m not doing therapy…
I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter. My family is one of my greatest gifts from God and we love being together.
When I want to have some time for myself, I enjoy a quality cup of coffee, reading a good fiction book, learning new things, exercising, gardening, and enjoying whatever sunshine I can find.
