(Graduate Student in Marriage and Family Therapy at George Fox University)
Are your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors getting in the way of your relationships, goals, or well-being?
It is normal for individuals, couples, and families to experience problems at times. Therapy can help to navigate life changes and challenges.
It can be scary to ask for help. By seeking therapy, you are taking a courageous first step towards living a more fulfilling life.
Who I Work With?
Counseling for Couples:
Are you struggling with relationship distress, conflict, or communication?
Are you having trouble connecting with your partner?
Maybe you’re feeling stuck and aren’t sure how to move forward?
We’ll work together to explore your attachment needs and form more secure bonds between you and your partner. Helping couples understand each other better is one of my passions.
I use techniques from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method that will help to identify behavioral patterns that aren’t working and develop new patterns that contribute to a more fulfilling relationship.
Couples counseling is not just for couples in severe distress. Anyone can seek couples counseling if they are looking to strengthen their relationship.
Counseling for Individuals:
My training in the Family Systems perspective, influences me to consider what’s going on in your life and how this is impacted by biological, psychological, social, cultural, familial, and spiritual factors.
Through my work with individuals, we address issues such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, shame, identity/self-esteem problems, and more.
Life can be difficult at times. Having someone to walk alongside us in our most vulnerable times can be just what is needed.
Family Therapy with Children and Teens:
As life is full of transitions and trials, it is normal for families to have struggles from time to time.
It can be easy to forget that, as a family, you are on the same team. We can work together to increase communication and establish feelings of acceptance, safety, and connectedness.
I am most passionate about helping teenagers and children navigate life’s challenges. Along with my education, I have several years of experience in children’s and youth ministry that has provided me with insight into the struggles teens and kids face today.
What to expect in a counseling session with me as your therapist?
I am a firm believer that you are the expert in your own life. My job is to support you on your journey to self-discovery.
It is a privilege to walk alongside you as we work together towards your healing.
Throughout counseling, I will collaborate with you to find the approaches that resonate with you. I will invite your feedback along the way.
Why choose me as your therapist?
My approach is warm, compassionate, and patient. Through careful listening, I aim to create an accepting and non-judgmental environment for you to explore your feelings and inner self.
I strive to create a strong therapeutic relationship with clients so they might feel safe on their journey to healing.
I enter each therapy session with a genuine curiosity to hear peoples’ stories, perspectives, strengths, and struggles.
As a graduate student in the Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling program at George Fox University, I have received rigorous training that has prepared me to assist clients struggling with an assortment of issues.
When I am not doing therapy
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our families.
I like to experiment with new recipes, travel to sunnier destinations, grow my own vegetables, and create amateur arts & crafts.
I have also been volunteering at my local church for several years. Serving my community brings me joy and purpose.
